Professional referrals

Bradford District and Craven Talking Therapies is a primary care, “NHS Talking Therapies, for anxiety and depression” service.

We provide free psychological interventions for individuals aged 16+, who are struggling with a mild to moderate, common mental health problem (e.g anxiety disorder or depression). The service offers a selection of National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) recommended talking therapies, that are tailored to each individual’s needs.

It is helpful if patients are aware of what the service can offer, and what to expect, prior to referral.  Further information about how we can help can be found and shared with patients, here:

 

 


If you are a healthcare professional and you are aware of a patient who believes they would benefit from talking therapy for a mild-moderate common mental health problem, you can support a patient by:

  • Completing a professional referral, on behalf of your patient, with their consent. This form can be downloaded here.  Professional referrals must be sent to the Single Point of Access team, via email, to firstresponseadmin@bdct.nhs.uk

Please note, if we are unable to reach a patient upon our attempts to contact them, we will assume that they no longer wish to engage with the service, and they will be discharged in line with Bradford District and Craven Talking Therapies Patient Non Attendance Policy.

Is a patient in need of urgent support?

Bradford District Talking Therapies is not an urgent care or crisis support service.

  • First Response crisis service is for people of all ages living in Bradford, Airedale, Wharfedale or Craven who believe they are experiencing a mental health crisis.   First Response are available to contact by calling 0800 952 1181 (24 hours a day, seven days a week).  First Response accept both self and professional referrals.
  • Safe Spaces offer same-day, urgent mental health appointments.  Patients and professionals can complete the online referral form or call First Response (0800 952 1181) or Guide-Line (08001 884 884) and ask for Safe Spaces.  Appointments are available every day, via telephone or in person at Safe Spaces Hubs in Bradford and Keighley.
